Soundportraits was a project I made in my home town of Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary in the Summer of 2014. I took over a disused pharmacy for a few weeks, on and off. I made portraits of ordinary people and listened to their stories. The project was graciously supported by the artist community in Carrick-On-Suir, and facilitated by Linda Fahy who runs the Tudor Artisan Hub.
The project was really nice, low-key, laid back way to engage with local people and to share their stories, and I’d love to make more of these projects.
Phil Coomes at the BBC featured the project on BBC News in Pictures
The video shows a “behind the scenes” of one of the shoots with local artist Susan.
