My publishers are interested in publishing a book on the WW2 memory project. They are a small independent publishers, Arts Council funded and they are willing to take on a lot of the production costs. However they require me to find sponsorship of 4000 euros to cover some of the production costs and I need to raise separately approx 1500 euros to cover extra film costs, petrol, etc. I’ve already invested about 2000 euros of personal funds. The Arts Council aren’t interested, the Heritage Council haven’t replied. So I’m thinking of running a crowdfunding campaign with donation levels of 5, 15, 25, 50 and 100 euros with varying levels of ‘rewards’. It’s my first time doing this and I’m looking for feedback on what people would expect at different levels of funding. So please feel free to comment. When I setup the campaign I will be guided by your feedback and I will publish a breakdown of how I spend the extra 1500 euros, look forward to your feedback and if you want to see the work in progress it’s www.ww2vetsproject.com thanks, Damian

I had the pleasure of meeting, photographing and interviewing Polish WW2 Veteran Stephan Kowalski over a few sessions during July. Stephan has lived in Ireland since the 1970′s. He worked in England for many years after the war as an architect. He joined the Polish resistance shortly after the German invasion and when the Germans began to suspect his involvement in the resistance, he made his way to the Italian border by train and then had to walk for many kilometres to the British lines. He was sent to Scotland to train with the Polish regiment and saw service in France, Holland and Germany. I hope to post a stills film and interview with Stephan over on my war memory site in the next week or so.
