This looks like a great project. I think that apart from the obvious pledge rewards such as paperback and hardback versions of the book, you should look to offer unique items that you may have collected during the process of collating information for you book.

If for instance you picked up a WWII piece of memorabilia people would be happy to pledge large amounts of money knowing that it all ties in with your book and explanation of what happened during the war. 

The other area that you can bring support in is with experiences. Whilst actually watching you write the book might not be the most exciting experience, getting on a tour bus to visit some of the sites with you may persuade some avid historians to pledge some larger sums of money to come along.
